Gross salary : 4.383 € (before deduction of all necessary taxes and social contributions)

PhD doctoral School : enrolled in the Swedish Ph.D. student program at the Department of Physics at the University of Gothenburg. A fourth mandatory year to obtain the Ph.D will be done in Sweden and paid by this department at standard Swedish Ph.D. rates. https://www.physics.gu.se/english

What do we propose ?

Industrial & applied Ph.D Project Title : Development of intelligent microfluidic systems for the  investigation of novel drug-delivery techniques based on active matter.

Aim of the Ph.D Project :Development of intelligent instrumentation and microfluidic devices allowing the characterization of drug-delivery systems based on active particles and carriers. A particular application of the developed techniques will be to study the dynamics of chemotactic polymersomes for drug delivery applications in collaboration with SomaNautix (https://somanautix.com/).

The Ph.D. Project will be co-supervised by a professor at the Department of Physics of the University of Gothenburg.

Furthermore, the Ph.D. project aims to be a useful experience and a unique opportunity for the Ph.D. candidate to experience the complex and existing journey of bridging academic research and industrial innovation. She/he will be welcomed in a dynamic start-up environment, learning about scientific results valorization, industrialization, and entrepreneurship, while also interacting with all the different hierarchical levels.

What we’re looking for :

  • Software programming, modeling, machine learning skills;
  • Experience in artificial intelligence (AI), signal and image processing;
  • Interest into applying microfluidics and understanding biological systems;
  • Entrepreneurship mindset willing to learn business concepts to facilitate the translation of research into viable and commercial products;
  • Willingness for mobility throughout Europe and stakeholder interactions.

Candidate Main Responsibilities :

  • To manage and carry out an independent, organ on a chip and bioengineering-based, research project in close collaboration with partners in CubiX development for ACTIVE MATTER
  • To integrate into the startup environment and spirit, participating in a broader project.
  • To actively participate in research and training activities within the ACTIVE MATTER network.
  • To disseminate research results in the scientific community (via international conferences) and in the non-scientific community (via outreach and public engagement)
  • No article will be published during the 3 years at Cherry Biotech since patenting will be prioritized

Eligibility Criteria : The candidate must have been graduated with a M.Sc degree (and no more than 4 years full-time research experience) at the hiring date, must not have spent (lived or worked) more than 12 months in France during the past 3 years and must comply to the eligibility rules of the University of Gothenburg.
